During weekends, many of us have been getting into baking. If you don't have an oven or are just starting out, this amazing chocolate cake recipe is perfect for you! It's a one-bowl recipe that takes only five minutes to make and is so easy, anyone can do it. Here's how to make it:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup hot water
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder. Mix well.
- Add the granulated sugar and give the ingredients a good toss.
- Pour in the vegetable oil and hot water. Mix well, using a whisk if needed to dissolve any lumps. The batter will be runny and loose, and that's exactly what we want.
- Choose a microwave-safe container to use as your cake tin. This could be a microwave-safe bowl, an oven dish, or a deep dish. Grease and flour the sides of the container, and line the bottom with parchment paper.
- Pour the batter into the container, and smooth it out so it's evenly distributed.
- Microwave the cake for 5 minutes, keeping an eye on it. The cooking time will depend on the size and material of the container you use, as well as the power of your microwave. If it's not cooked after 3 minutes, continue to microwave it in 30-second increments until it's done. The cake is ready when the top is springy and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the container for 5 minutes, then use a spatula to release the sides from the pan. Turn it over onto a rack or cutting board, with the bottom side facing up. Let it cool completely.
- Once cooled, flip the cake over so the flat side is facing up. Spread your desired frosting over the top. You can use a homemade chocolate frosting or any other frosting of your choice.
Tips and Variations:
- For a different flavor, you can add a teaspoon of vanilla extract or a dash of cinnamon to the batter.
- You can also add in some chocolate chips or chopped nuts for extra texture.
- Instead of frosting, you can dust the top of the cake with powdered sugar or drizzle it with melted chocolate.
- To store leftovers, wrap the cake in plastic wrap or foil and keep it in the fridge for up to 3 days.
